Value...isn't that what we all want for our hard-earned money. I can't imagine anyone making any kind of purchase without wanting the most they can get for it. This seems to be a sticking point for purchasers of water features and water feature products.
Studies have shown that purchasers who receive the best value buy in the mid-range of products and/or services available. Low priced products and services are usually not backed with customer service, a reliable warranty, or inferior products. High priced products are usually not better than the mid-ranged only higher priced with extras tagged on that don't necessarily create additional value.
In today's economy, people investing in products and services for their home need to make their purchases count...they are looking for value and are typically going with the mid-ranged priced products and services.
How do you determine what products and services will produce the best value? These guidelines can relate to any type of purchase, but are specifically listed here in reference to the purchase of water feature products or a water feature installation. Remember, when you purchase a product you are also purchasing that company's reputation and history too. Keep these points in mind...
- Service after the sale. What if you have a question, need service or something goes wrong? Is there someone there to help? How easily can you contact them? How long will it take to get the problem resolved?
- How's the warranty? Is there a warrantly? If the product fails, will it need to be shipped or simply returned to the place of purchase? Are there technicians available to make house calls?
- Is the price too good to be true? Are you purchasing an item that has been discontinued or has expired? Are you purchasing a water feature from someone just "getting their feet wet."
- Are there references available? Ask! We rarely get asked for references but have many customers willing and ready to sing our praises!
- Are there added benefits? Are there passionate service personnel available to help you with questions or concerns? Is there a loyalty program to reward customers for their purchases? How about continuing education? Does the company regularly train it's personnel and or have outside sources provide training so they are up-to-date on any new products, industry news, or future programs? Are there classes, seminars, and events available to the customers to help them with their purchases?
- How long do you expect the product to last? Do you want to purchase an item to last several years or just a few months? The saying is true..."you get what you pay for." Your time is valuable. You may be able to purchase an item cheap, but how much time will you spend replacing it? Your time is a cost too!
- Are you buying from a local company? Although this may not seem to involve value, keeping your local communtiy healthy helps you in the long run also. Emply businesses and unemployment only devalues your property too. You may not think that your purchases count for much, but if everyone thought that way, how much does that add up to?
Keep these guidelines in mind when making any purchase. You will save yourself time, trouble, and money in the long run! And have your beautiful water feature!
