Job Description

Here’s what your job will entail:

Work days Tuesday - Friday 8am - 6pm (you will love having three day weekends!).
We will train you in everything you need to know about pond building and maintenance.
This is a seasonal job that runs late February through mid December.
Building water features requires great communication. You’ll work closely with all members of our staff.

This position involves two facets -- pond installation and some pond maintenance.

Only a small part of the job but a very important part, the pond maintenance tasks occur in March and April and for a couple weeks in the fall. This involves independently driving a company vehicle to clients homes and performing maintenance tasks on their water feature such as cleaning the water feature, pump replacements, etc.

The pond installation part of this position happens May through November. This is where are installation crew shines! During installation season you will install water features for clients at their homes. You and the rest of our crew go to a new location every day to several days. All jobsites are local.

A proven capacity to do strenuous, outdoor labor. Qualified candidates will have landscaping work history or the equivalent. We do not count lawn maintenance or mowing as equivalent work history. Although this job is rewarding, it is physically hard.
Steady work history. We need to know we can count on you. There is extensive training involved in the position. Qualified candidates will need to have proven work experience -- a good length of time at prior jobs.

A willingness to learn. We will teach you everything you need to know.

Ability to work in all weather conditions. We work in some really tough conditions. Indiana summers are hot. And cleaning a pond in March is cold. If you can work hard and still have a smile on your face, you'll fit in just fine.

You'll need to love being outdoors. We try to mimic nature as best as we can. To understand how to build a natural waterfall, you'll need to know what a natural waterfall looks like!

Clear communication. You'll be texting, emailing, calling, and speaking face to face not only with your fellow landscape crew members but with every member of Cool Ponds. And your customers too.

A fun-loving attitude. What's the point of working a job if it's no fun to you? We come to work every day excited to be here -- what we do is cool and the people we work with are fun to be around.

Compensation

Crew members start at $20 per hour
3 day weekends
Paid vacation and personal days
Health insurance stipend

Physical Demands

In order to perform this job, landscape crew members will be physically required to:

Lift 80+lbs
Kneel, bend, crouch, and climb in and out of holes
Stand for long periods of time
Ability to communicate orally with customers and crew members
Operate hand tools such as shovels and pickaxes
Operate machinery
Visually observe job site to maintain high safety standards for both Cool Ponds’ employees and customers
Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

Please note that we will also require a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug test and background check. All Cool Ponds’ property, vehicles, and job sites are tobacco-free - no exceptions.
